Douglas Israel,
MD named Associate Director of the Catheterization Unit at the Hospital of Saint
Raphael.
Douglas Israel has recently been appointed as the Associate Medical Director
of he Philip R. Fazzone Cardiac Catheterization Unit at the Hospital of Saint Raphael. Thomas
Donohue, MD, Saint Raphael’s section chief of Cardiology, announced the appointment. Dr.
Israel is a graduate of Georgetown University who completed a fellowship in cardiology
at Mount Sinai Medical School in New York City in 1991. He joined Cardiology
Associates of New Haven the same year.
Program directed
by Dr. Gerber receives award.
Dr. Jaimie Gerber has directed a program at the Yale-New Haven Hospital
for speeding the process by which heart attack patients are brought to the angiogram
laboratory to have their blocked coronary arteries opened. Recognizing the efforts
spearheaded by Dr. Gerber, the hospital received the John D. Thompson Award from
the Connecticut Hospital Association on June 11, 2002.
Dr. Wolfson named as chair of new
Subcommittee.
Dr. Steven Wolfson has been asked to chair the newly formed Subcommittee
on Cardiovascular Drugs of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee at the Yale-New
Haven Hospital. Establishing this Subcommittee responds to the large number of medications
already available for treating heart and vascular diseases, and the frequency with
which new and potent drugs are added to this list.
CANH Employees
raise $2,800 for the American Heart Association’s Greater New Haven Heart Walk.
On May 18, 2002
twenty-eight employees and friends of Cardiology Associates of New Haven (CANH)
participated in the American Heart Association’s “Greater New Haven Heart Walk“.
The ”Walk” raised funds to support the cardiovascular research and life changing
public education programs of the American Heart Association. Our team, wearing
red CANH T-shirts, joined about a 1,500 other people in the 5K non-competitive walk
at Lighthouse Point.
The team captains:
Trisha Apuzzo and Naomi Marinelli raised $2,800 from co-workers, friends and companies
that do business with CANH. In addition to our employees, we would like to thank
